Martin Gujan
World Champion Nino Schurter again beats his strongest opponent Julien Absalon, FRA in sprint finish.

Florian Vogel became third in front of Mathias Flückiger and Ralph Naef (all Switzerland). Schurter wins with a time of 1:44:09 and a four seconds advance. Schurter now leads Absalon by 26 points in the XCO overall ranking with only one competition to go.

At this high level and demanding track, on which in 2008 the World Championships where held, Schurter, Absalon, Vogel and also M. Flückiger where dominating the scene and sharing the leading work throughout the race. Many short and steep climbs did not leave lot of space to rest, but still the race picked up speed, Schurter and Absalon left the group and showed us the most exciting race finish of the season.

Martin Gujan again made a big step in the right direction. His form is now better and he finished the six rounds with a time of 01:49:06 and rank 16. Prior the race his tactic was to make up spots at the start already and find a quick, ideal rhythm. His target to land a top-10 result was not possible. He started from position 39 and won 23 positions to finish 16th.

His comment to the race: “It was a very fast race. I was struggling a little at the beginning, due to the warm temperatures, did not feel perfectly right, I could still hold my position. It got better though and I could make up a couple of ranks. In the overall ranking I did a big step in the right direction, what will help me for the last race in Windham to start a little more in the front. To prepare for that I will in the next two weeks be in Engadin for high altitude training and at a Swiss Cup Race in Muttenz.”
