Martin Gujan finishes 11th at UCI Mountainbike World Cup in Windham (USA) and becomes 26th in the overall ranking At the sixth and last cross country race of the season Martin Gujan again topped his results and gets 11th in Windham. From start position 33 he fights to the front and rides with the leading group with Nino Schurter, Florian Vogel and the South African Burry Stander. He rode a constant, strong race, could though not hold the pace of the leading group and falls back, closely missing a top 10 result. Even though, one week ahead of the MTB World Championships in Mt. St. Anne and after his injury early season and the rehabilitation phase he can be very satisfied: “The race was good, my legs felt good. I am positive I can increase my performance at the World Champs next week”, he comments.
He finishes this season with a 26th rank overall. Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) wins with a time of 1:39:28 his first cross country World Cup of his career and finishes on rank three in the overall. Nino Schurter, 14 seconds behind, becomes second in front of fellow countrymen Florian Vogel, Christoph Sauser and Lukas Flückiger. Schurter wins the first overall world cup of his career. It was a close battle between him and Julien Absalon, who was just 16 points behind. Due to a puncher Absalon fell back early in the race and fights back to position six and completes the overall World Cup podium with rank three.
