With Switzerland´s best riders and some foreign competitors I started into the first of seven laps. From the beginning on the pace was high and quickly a leading group was built which was getting smaller and smaller. I was part of it. Sometimes I was close to my limit but I could hold the pace, and could almost every time be at the top of the climb with the leaders. Sauser did in the middle of the race again increase the speed.  Only Schurter could follow him. I was in the chasing group with Flückiger and Gallati. Together we tried to close the gap but there was not a big harmony between eachother. In the second last lap I attacked the other two with success. I ended the race on the 3rd place.

So I finished a wonderful, successful racing day.  I was very happy because prior the race, I had some doubts about my performance because of my coughing. However, in the race I didn't feel it a lot.
