News > World cup start in South Africa
The season 2012 get started with the world cup in South Africa. That’s the first real test to see how was your winter training and where you are.
I did a 3 day stage race in Cyprus and 1 race in South Africa for preparation.
I was standing a little nervous with nummer 21 at the startline. My goal was to improve the start position for the next world cup.
On the first few hundret meters I couldn’t pass so many riders. I did the first lap between 15 and 20. My legs didn’t feel the best and I was waiting for the moment when your legs get open and you start to move forward. Unfortunately it never happend. I tried several times to hang on a wheel but I never could hold it for a long time. I get dropped and lost some more positions. At the end I crossed the finish line on place 27.
So I missed my goal completly. But I don’t go in trouble yet. There’s another month till the next world cup. However I know now that I have to work hard on my shape.
